Avengers Endgame

Hello Bloggers,

For literacy, we have been learning about finding themes in movie posters or book covers. So we ended up having to create a movie poster of our own with our favourite movie. I chose Avengers Endgame, look below for my description and poster and ENJOY.

The poster that I made represents family and teamwork as the Avengers are the strongest together.

They all have different skillsets and mindsets like Thor is the god of thunder but Tony Stark is a billionaire with a robot for his self-defence and his amazing tech.

The background also represents the main place where all of the events happen.

The gauntlet represents Thanos and the power that he has with all of the stones. It also means that Thanos and the Avengers will face off.

Binary / ASCII

Hello Bloggers,

Today we are learning about Binary and ASCII.

Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers.  You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself!

ASCII is a set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard).  I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code!  Using colours to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!

What do you think?  Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII?  Could you have a try for yourself?  Can you work out how to write my initials in ASCII from the pattern above?

Magnificent Matariki Animation / Poem

Rich Will Have the Most Power

Hello Bloggers,

For inquiry, we got shown a set of photos about a global issue. We had to choose one of the photos and write a paragraph on what it means and what it represents. Here is my photo and my description, see ya!

I think that this photo means that the rich or high ranked people will always rule over the poor. I think that because the man in the suit is bending the hose so the poor starving kid can’t get any water. This photo represents that there is something that we can do about the unclean water around the world but the government isn’t doing anything about it only the charities.

Samoan Siapo's

My Siapo Design

Hello Bloggers,

During technology time at school, we have been learning about Samoan Siapo's. One of the oldest and most important traditions of Samoa is the Siapo or Tapa.  It is a type of cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree.  It is very time-consuming, because the bark must be harvested, stripped, separated, scraped, and beaten before it can be used.

It is then laid out in the sun to dry. The artist uses natural dyes, created from items such as berries, bark, and nuts to make patterns on the cloth.

Above there is the design that I created but with paper, pastel and brown dye. Here is mine and See Ya!!

Irony Comic Strip "Thats so ironic"

Hello Bloggers,

I really appreciate you looking at my blog so please help me with my work and leave a comment below, it will really help me.

For inquiry, we have been learning about irony. We have learned the 3 types of irony: verbal (sarcasm), situational and dramatic. Below are some examples.

Verbal irony is saying something but you mean the opposite like someone is saying its a beautiful day if it's raining. They mean the opposite.

Situational irony is you expect something but the complete opposite happens. Like if there is a huge rustle in the bush and suddenly, a squirrel comes out of the bush.

Dramatic irony is when you know something that the character in the movie doesn't, like if a monster is hiding behind the door and the character opens it and we know that the monster is behind the door.

Here is a comic strip that Isaac and I created around situational irony. Hope you enjoy it and see ya.
